Hotels Villa Pescadores: Tulum’s Best Eco-Friendly Escape outfit details Since I was little, Mexico has always been one of my favorite getaways. From the culture to the beaches, the food to the shopping, the friendly locals to the festive music, there are so may reasons why Mexico is a special place. If I could, I would hop on a plane and fly to Mexico every single weekend. Luckily Mexico is such an easy getaway from Dallas, so my trips to Mexico have become much more frequent! Last month we planned a spontaneous trip to Mexico for a bit of R&R. We took a direct flight from Dallas to Cancun, rented a Jeep, spent a few nights at The Fives Downtown in Playa del Carmen, then continued along to Tulum for a stay at the Villa Pescadores Hotel & Beach Club. From the moment we checked into the Villa Pescadores open-air lobby and were greeted with minty libations, I knew I was going to LOVE my stay. There’s no denying the Villa Pescadores has a unique vibe unlike most hotels. The laid-back, barefoot vibe combined with the eclectic mix of international (ultra chic) travelers set the tone for entire stay. The Villa Pescadores is an eco-friendly boutique hotel on the north end of Tulum. The Tulum ruins are only a quick 5 minute walk away, and we were only a 5 minute drive from downtown. The hotel has a sandy, open-air feel – so you’re greeted with the Mexican sunshine throughout the entire day! The hotel itself is relatively small with only 18 bungalows, one main restaurant and bar, and one beach bar. Speaking of food, the restaurant was absolutely amazing! Every meal was delicious and beautifully arranged, and I highly recommend the elote if you visit! The Villa Pescadores also offers a lot of different activities for guests including fishing, diving, windsurfing, and bicycling. The hotel is comprised of 18 bungalows, each with their own patio, hammocks, and beautifully draped curtains surrounding the beds. While the rooms only have A/C from 6PM-7AM, we spent our days on the beach or napping in the hammocks under the palm trees – so we never had an issue with the A/C schedule! Also if you plan to drive to Tulum, the resort offers free on-site parking – great perk! Next time you’re at home dreaming of a beach getaway, I definitely recommend the Villa Pescadores in Tulum. We absolutely loved our stay, and we think you will too!
