Caribbean Hotel Spotlight: The Ritz Carlton St Thomas Everyone has their favorite getaways, and there’s no denying my favorite is The Caribbean. Apart from the fact it’s an easy destination to jet off to from the South, every island has it’s own unique charm. Who can resist soaking in a little sun (with SPF of course!) surrounded by crystal clear, turquoise water with a pina colada in hand? I know I can’t, which is why I had no problem booking a flight one week in advance for a spontaneous getaway to The Ritz Carlton St Thomas with my best girlfriend. via Though some Caribbean getaways can involve long and complicated travel journeys, I was absolutely shocked at the ease of getting to The Ritz Carlton St Thomas. With surprisingly affordable and easy flights from Dallas to the island, and a quick taxi from the airport to the hotel, we knew we had reached paradise from the second we stepped foot inside the open-air lobby overlooking the entire resort. via Situated on a stunning 30-acre waterfront estate on the Great Bay, the resort is an absolute oasis with gorgeous waters, lush greenery, and peaceful serenity that allows you to instantly escape into vacation mode. With accommodations sprawling across the estate, every guest enjoys a sense of peace and privacy. We stayed in one of the Club Rooms overlooking the beach from its private terrace. With a marble bathroom and jacuzzi tub, large closets, and exceptionally comfy beds (as you know, few beds beat the comfort levels of the Ritz), we were more than satisfied with the room. Since my best friend, Paige, was leaving Dallas and moving to Atlanta the next week for a new career, our goal of the getaway was pure R&R – which was why this hotel was perfect for us. Although most of the guests we met were on their honeymoons (brides-to-be, I definitely recommend it), the serene island vibe was the ultimate way to take a step from reality and relax! With four restaurants on site, fitness facilities, and an amazing spa, the hotel offers everything you need. To make the most of our vacation, we decided to spend one day on an island hopping excursion. We sailed from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda to explore The Baths (click here to read all about our amazing experience), which was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. Following that we snorkeled the caves of Norman Island, which was made famous by Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. I highly recommend this excursion if you visit the resort! Another activity you must experience during your stay is the sunset cruise on the Lady Lynsey, the resort’s 53-foot luxury catamaran. Sip cocktails and enjoy hors d’oeuvres as you sail around the Virgin Islands between St John and the BVIs. Relaxing on the bean bags at sunset to the sounds of Sinatra was definitely our idea of paradise! Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, planning a honeymoon, or simply trying to find an excuse to travel somewhere exotic with your bestie, The Ritz Carlton St Thomas is absolutely fantastic, and you should definitely mark this location on your bucket list. Travel Tip: Although you do not need your passport to visit the USVIs, be sure to pack it to enjoy the hotel excursions!
