Hotels Hungary’s Hideaway: Mala Garden On Lake Balaton Imagine sipping Hungarian wine overlooking turquoise water as the sun sets over a Bali-inspired hideaway. Sounds too good to be true, right? If you hop in your car and drive one hour from Budapest, you’ll discover a gorgeous area known as Lake Balaton: an Eastern European gem with rolling hills, crystal clear water, and endless wineries to satisfy all of your taste buds. While Lake Balaton may not be on your current radar, I highly suggest adding it to your travel list. As romantic as Budapest may be, discovering a beautiful coastline so close to the city makes the short drive oh-so-worth it. While there are many areas to explore in Lake Balaton, we fell in love with the Mala Garden design and wellness hotel in Siofok. Siofok was listed as one of the top party beaches alongside Ibiza and Mykonos, but this wellness resort is a peaceful escape from city life. The Bali-inspired design is serene and calming with rich color tones, bamboo accents, and endless windows. What I loved most about the hotel was the incredible spa. From the tropical adventure shower to the Finnish sauna with Himalayan salt bricks, the spa provided the ultimate relaxation – which was definitely needed after our road trip! Following the spa, we relaxed on the hotel’s shoreline under a bevy of umbrellas. If you’re a foodie, you’ll love the hotel’s international restaurant that combines Hungarian and Thai cuisine into a flavorful culinary experience. If you’re there in one of the summer months, you can enjoy the open air atmosphere, as the glass doors fold up to soak in the sunsets off the shoreline. Whether Lake Balaton is your favorite getaway, or you’re learning about this Hungarian paradise right now, we think you’ll love the Mala Garden Hotel.
