Hotels San Francisco Proper Hotel: A Chic Weekend Getaway Calling all design lovers: I’ve found the next hotel on your travel list! As much as I love exploring new cities, one of my favorite parts of traveling is discovering new hotels. Considering a hotel is my “home base” for a getaway, my entire experience in that new city is based around my hotel. Nothing starts the day off better than waking up in a beautiful hotel room with breakfast in bed, and there’s nothing more delightful than nestling up in a chic bar surrounded by exquisite decor for a night cap after a day of exploring. Why check into a cookie-cutter hotel when you can experience something unique and new? From a hotel’s unique mini bar selection to their customized bath products, the smallest details of a boutique hotel can make the biggest impact! This past weekend Janie and I headed out to California for a sisters getaway. We spent a few nights in Sacramento, ventured through Los Gatos (Janie’s boyfriend’s hometown), and made our way to San Francisco to explore the city. While there are so many fab hotels in San Francisco, The Proper Hotel had been on my radar for quite some time – so we chose to stay there! The Proper Hotel is a newly renovated flatiron building located in the Mid-Market neighborhood of San Francisco – near Twitter and Uber – at the corner of Market and McAllister. Though we could’ve stayed in the hotel all weekend with all of the amazing amenities, the location was super convenient for exploring various neighborhoods in the city. What makes the Proper Hotel so unique is the attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel. The decor of the hotel is definitely a wow-factor, and it’s no surprise considering it was designed by celebrity interior designer, Kelly Wearstler. The style combines influences of the past and present with rich colors and whimsical patterns that creates an unexpected contrast with the original architecture. The hotel offers 131 rooms for guests ranging from bunk rooms to suites. Janie and I stayed in a Premier King room and absolutely loved it. From the black and white wallpaper to the cozy window seating area, our room was calming, chic, and oh-so-comfortable! The hotel rooms feature all-natural Aireloom mattresses in each room, so we slept SO well each night! The bathrooms of the hotel were modern and dark with bronze fixtures – the ultimate “bathroom goals”. The bathrooms were also stocked with Aesop bath products, which made each shower feel like a spa-experience – and since getting ready is always a bit more fun with a bit of bubbly and great tunes, the Vifa wireless in-room speakers are essential! The hotel has three restaurants and bars on-site, each with its own personalized flair. One of the highlights of our stay was grabbing drinks with a few friends at Charmaine’s. What surprised us the most about Charmaine’s was the line of people that wrapped around the building each night waiting to try out the rooftop. There was no denying this place was a hot spot, so we knew we had to check it out! Luckily as guests, we got to skip the line, take the private elevator, and walk right in. We recommend grabbing a Proper Cup and cozying up at one of the outdoor fire pits to relax and enjoy some of the best views of the city! It was the perfect way to wind down on our last night! So whether you’re planning your first trip to San Francisco OR you’re a local looking for a fun staycation, we highly recommend the Proper Hotel! Click here to learn more.
