Why You Should Use A Fragrance-Free Moisturizer

Don’t get me wrong, I love perfumes and scented products. I never leave the house without a spritz of my favorite perfume, and I keep my seasonal scented hand lotions in my handbag at all times – but if every product I lather on has a delicious scent, how does that balance out?

Since I’m in my late 20s, skincare is one of my top priorities. Instead of just trying to fight breakouts like I did in college, I now take a proactive approach to keeping my skin healthy and protected. I think one of the biggest misconceptions of skincare is that the more expensive the product is, the better it works – but that’s not the case. In fact, some drugstore products work the best!

WHY FRAGRANCE-FREE?

Scent overload aside, there are many reasons why fragrance-free products are much better for your skin. The perfumes and fragrances used in products can be tough on some skin tones and can actually cause negative reactions – especially if you have dry or sensitive skin. Also, If you have rosacea, psoriasis, or eczema, a fragrance-free moisturizer is much gentler on your skin!

One thing to note is “fragrance-free” and “unscented” moisturizers are NOT the same thing. Fragrance-free products may still have a scent, but it doesn’t include any fragrant ingredients. Unscented products actually include additional ingredients to mask the natural scent of the other ingredients – which is why it’s so important to choose fragrance-free products over unscented.

It can sometimes be overwhelming trying to choose the right skincare products when there’s so many on the market, but the one product I never skip in my daily routine is a moisturizer.
