Hotels Rosewood Mayakoba: Riviera Maya’s Serene and Luxurious Getaway Still dreaming of our amazing getaway to the Rosewood Mayakoba! This past October, Kevin and I both celebrated our 30th birthdays, and we treated ourselves to a getaway at the Rosewood Mayakoba in Mexico. Needless to say, it was heavenly! Since flights to Cancun from Dallas are so quick and easy, and there are so many different locations to explore driving distance from this vibrant tourist town, it’s our favorite place to escape when we need a bit of R&R. When Kevin and I travel, we love to visit hotels that provide an experience in itself. With gorgeous overwater bungalows, an award-winning spa, endless fine dining, serene beaches and multiple pools, endless activities, and more – we knew the resort would have everything we love and so much more! Airport Transportation The Rosewood Mayakoba is located 45 minutes from the Cancun airport, which makes it a very easy destination from most US cities. We had heard so many amazing reviews about the resort from friends, so we decided this would be a great location to maximize our four days away with minimal travel time! (If you plan to explore the Riviera Maya over your stay, click here for tips on how to rent a car in Mexico) We opted to use the hotel’s transportation from the airport, and if you’ve ever flown into the Cancun airport, you know getting out of the airport can be a bit chaotic with the dozens of people swarming you at the door for taxi service. With the Rosewood’s transportation service, they were easy to see as soon as we exited the airport, helped us with our luggage, the car had snacks and drinks waiting for us, and complimentary Wifi. The driver also was able to answer our questions about the resort and get us hyped up for our arrival! The transportation did not disappoint when we left the resort either. We had the same snacks and drinks on the way back to the airport, but what really stood out is how much detail they paid to ensure we had all the correct documents to seamlessly get through the airport – which is especially necessary right now with the extra COVID document requirements! Someone from the Rosewood also stayed with us through the check-in process and walked us to the escalator where we went through security. Many people were scrambling in this area to fill out the required forms and we were very grateful the our butler and the hotel staff kept us organized in this regard! The Arrival The arrival at the Rosewood Mayakoba gave our arrival at the Hotel des Bergues in Geneva a run for their money! Our driver gave us a quick tour of Mayakoba and pointed out some areas that he recommend we see off property, such as the Cenote within the gates of Mayakoba. Once we reached the hotel, we were greeted by multiple members of the staff as they guided us through the check-in journey. It started in the main lobby, then onto one of their boats with a complimentary welcome beverage that whisked us away to our suite where we met our butler who gave us a tour of the villa. We fell in love with the resort instantly! The Room Can you even call it a room? It was bigger than most NYC apartments! We had a large living room and dining room area that overlooked the heated pool, deck, and the lagoon. The large glass walls fully retracted to bring the outside in. On the other side of the villa was a beautiful bathroom with separate vanities, a soaking tub, and a marvelous outside shower. The floor to ceiling windows in this room also were stunning, and I wished I could wake up to this view everyday! Mayakoba We didn’t do much research before we arrived, so we were very surprised to find out Mayakoba was not its own city, but a resort area built in the town of Quintana Roo. This was great because we felt completely safe riding bikes along the Mayakoba bike paths and knowing we were still within the property grounds. The location spanning from the wonderful white sand beaches to the emerald lagoons felt like two destinations in one! Another thing we loved is that the other hotels within Mayakoba (Fairmont, Banyan Tree, & Andaz) welcomed us to come dine at their property and we could room charge it back to our suite at the Rosewood! There was also complimentary transportation between the hotels via boat or their Black SUVs. The Service The service at the Rosewood Mayakoba made our experience unforgettable. Each room has its own butler, who can be reached at all times of the day through the resort app. One evening we asked for ice to make a cocktail and not only did our butler bring us ice, but stayed to make the cocktail for us! Our butler also would find us while we were at the beach to make sure we were having a nice time and if we needed anything. In addition to the amazing service from our butler, all the staff on property was amazing and willing to help. Everyone was very professional but it never felt stuffy. The Spa My husband and I always love booking spa appointments on every vacation – after all, our lives in Dallas are super busy, so we love to use our vacation to truly relax! The spa at the Rosewood Mayakoba is constantly rated as one of the best in the country, and it’s no surprise whenever you experience this serene jungle escape. You will love spending the day escaping into the lush, tropical paradise of the spa as you indulge in some of the best spa treatments ever. Trust me, you will not regret it!
